BOTOX®

BOTOX® in Newport Beach

When you hear neuromodulators, you probably think of BOTOX®. It’s like a magic wand for those lines that pop up when you smile, frown, or squint. Botox Cosmetic, made by Allergan, and other similar products like Jeuveau®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Daxxify®, work by relaxing the muscles that cause those wrinkles. People often call them “wrinkle relaxers” or “muscle relaxers.”

Not only do neuromodulators smooth out the lines you already have, but they can also help prevent new ones from forming. If you want to smooth out those lines and look a little younger, Botox might be for you! Dr. Goretti Ho Taghva and her team of aesthetic injectors are happy to help Orange County women and men turn back the clocks with Botox.

How Does BOTOX® Work?

When you make facial expressions, your muscles contract. Over time, these repeated contractions can create wrinkles. Botox blocks the nerve signals that tell these muscles to contract, so they relax. This helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines.

Botox is a quick and easy procedure. We’ll chat about your goals and take some before-and-after photos. Then, we’ll clean the area and inject the Botox. You’ll be good to go in no time! Many Orange County patients sneak this wrinkle-reduction treatment in on their lunch breaks.

Unlike other cosmetic procedures, Botox is quite versatile. If you have wrinkles or lines you want to get rid of, you’re likely a good candidate. It’s a great way to smooth out those lines that pop up when you smile, frown, or squint.

We don’t recommend Botox, however, for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or for people with certain neurological conditions.

So, if you’re over 18, in good health, and want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles or prevent new ones from forming, Botox might be a great option for you!

What Can I Treat With BOTOX®?

Botox started as a medical treatment for concerns like crossed eyes and muscle spasms, but then people noticed it also helps smooth out wrinkles. It’s now FDA-approved to treat crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. It can even help with excessive sweating and jaw pain.

Many people wait until they see wrinkles before starting Botox, but it’s better to start sooner to prevent them from forming in the first place. It’s like putting on sunscreen before you go out in the sun. If you wait too long, you might need more treatments like fillers or laser resurfacing to remove those deep lines.

When Will I See Results?

You’ll start seeing the effects within 2-3 days, but it might take up to two weeks for everything to settle in. It’s like giving your muscles a little break. Before it can work its magic, Botox needs time to attach to your nerves.

How Long Do BOTOX® Results Last?

Botox results usually last for about 3-4 months. You can have them repeated every 2-6 months, depending on how fast your body breaks it down.

Aftercare and Healing

Botox is a quick and easy procedure. After your appointment, you can go right back to your normal routine. There are just a few things you should avoid for a short period after your treatment:

  • It is best to stay sat up for the first hour or two. This helps prevent the Botox from spreading to areas other than the intended target.
  • Avoid intense workouts for the first day. This will help prevent the Botox from moving around too much.
  • You can gently pat the areas dry after your treatment, but avoid rubbing them. This can irritate the skin and potentially affect the results.

How to Prepare for BOTOX®

To minimize the risk of side effects, it’s best to do the following for a week before your Botox treatment:

  • Be sure to let us know about any other medications you’re taking, especially muscle relaxants or allergy and sleep medications.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking.
  • Hold off on blood-thinning supplements like fish oil and vitamin E, and medications like ibuprofen or aspirin.
  • Try applying arnica cream to the areas where you’ll be getting injections. This can help reduce bruising.

At What Age Should I Start Getting BOTOX®?

While Botox is FDA-approved for anyone 18 years of age or older, we typically don’t recommend starting regular maintenance treatments until your late 20s or early 30s. This is when most people start to notice fine lines and wrinkles.

Of course, everyone’s skin ages differently, and some people may see the need for Botox earlier or later than others. It’s really a personal decision based on your individual goals and concerns.

How Much Does BOTOX® Cost in Newport Beach?

According to hundreds of patient reviews on RealSelf, Botox typically costs around $562 per treatment. Most patients are really happy with the results, too! 97% of people who’ve tried Botox say it was worth it on RealSelf.

Botox helps you look and feel your best by taking years off your face.

Is BOTOX® Safe?

Botox is generally safe, but like anything, it can have some minor side effects. You might notice a little bruising, swelling, or soreness where the injections were. Some people also report dry mouth, dry eyes, or headaches, but these side effects are usually temporary and not a big deal.

It’s important to have Botox from a qualified professional like one of the Newport Beach aesthetic injectors at LEA Plastic Surgery. If it’s done wrong, the toxin can spread to other areas of your body and cause problems like droopy eyelids or a crooked smile. So, do your research and find an injector you trust.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox

How long does BOTOX® take?

A typical Botox appointment takes just 20-30 minutes.

Does BOTOX® hurt?

You might feel a little pinch during your Botox treatment, but it’s usually pretty mild. Most people say it’s not a big deal. If needles make you nervous, we can put a numbing cream on your skin first.

Does BOTOX® make you look older after it wears off?

There’s a myth that Botox can make you look older after it wears off, but that’s not true! When Botox wears off, your muscles just go back to their normal routine. It’s like taking a break from working out – you don’t suddenly get out of shape. Your face is just going back to its natural state, and you’ll need another Botox session to keep those wrinkles at bay.

Can you reverse BOTOX®?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to reverse Botox. If you’re not happy with the results, you’ll just have to wait for it to wear off, which usually takes a few months.
